SUMP PUMP FOR YOUR CRAWL SPACE

The sump pump is the engine of the full drain system. Water moves into the drain lines and is channeled to the sump basin where the sump pump is engaged and pumps the water out of the crawl space via a discharge line. Certainly the sump pump is the key to the consistent removal of ground water in crawl space, keeping it free of standing water and maintaining the ground water below the grade.Sump pump, an integral part of drainage system

Example of sump pump
A sump pump system consists of the following parts:

Ground-water collection system: A system of drain tile buried along the foundation or under the basement floor. The drain tiles carry the water to the sump pit for collection.

Sump Basin: A pit installed into the floor of the basement or crawl space to collect the ground-water. The tank is typically installed in the lowest point of the basement or crawl space and has two holes in each side for the incoming drain tiles.

Sump Pump: The sump pump draw water out of the pit when it reaches a certian level. There are two main types: submersible sump pumps, and pedestal sump pump. The pump automatically shuts off once the tank is emptied to a certain level.

Sump Pump Backup: (Optional) A backup system for a sump pump typically consists of a fully charged 12 volt battery designed to run the sump pump as needed when there is a power outage. Depending on the battery capacity and sump pump model, they can provide backup power for 6 hours or more.

Sump Discharge: The PVC that takes the water pumped out of the sump system away from the house. The drainage pipe could be connected to a sewer, or just a pipe that discharges the water far away from the house.

Water Receptacle: This is the destination point of the discharge line. This is a small in-ground cylinder that is perforated and maintains an open a clear release point so that the pump can run at maximum efficiency. The top of the cylinder is flush with the top of the yard and cover by a vented cap to allow water to release and the pump to continue to run at maximum efficiency even at time of extreme ground water levels.
